Understand how to use your country’s available resources to maximise carbon dioxide removal
About the Optimisation Tool
The Optimisation tool helps CRRA project teams allocate and optimise identified CDR resources in a country. It is an interactive model that simulates CDR deployment scenarios, allowing you to find the right mix of methods by exploring resource usage and constraints.
It is possible to do resource allocation manually, but because CDR methods use multiple resources in varying amounts, it can quickly get complicated. The optimisation tool performs this allocation for you based on the inputs and constraints you choose.
While results provided by the tool should not be treated as definitive or all encompassing, it helps to efficiently identify the optimal CDR portfolio for a country and the key CDR methods therein.
The tool gives you exportable results in PDF, CSV, XLS.

Inputs
Resources: Provide the total available quantities of resources for 1 year.
Optional add-ons
Method constraints: select which carbon removal methods are active and set their maximum deployment cap (as % of its total potential or absolute value in MtCO₂/yr).
Resource efficiency coefficients: adjust the resource usage for each method.
Outputs
Portfolio generation: run the optimisation to find the best portfolio: how much CO₂ is removed, what methods are used, and in what proportions.
Explore
Sensitivity analysis: analyse how changes in method caps or resource availability affect the portfolio.
Scenario comparison: compare different scenarios based on the optimisation results.
